Direct Democracy: ESCC petition for bicycle hangars in Hastings and St. Leonards

HUB has started a Direct Democracy petition on ESCC’s ePetition platform to get them to fund bicycle hangars for Hastings and St Leonards.

Unlike similar towns along the South Coast such as Brighton which already has more than 150 bicycle hangars and allows residents to easily request them to be installed on any street, Hastings and St. Leonards has precisely none as yet.

Whilst Hastings Borough Council supports the initative and is willing to allocate space for bicycle hangars, and despite the fact that HUB has assembled the signatures of several hundred people who would use these facilities, funding for this initiative continues to be the obstacle.

Now, new money has been allocated by Active Travel England to East Sussex County Council expressly to enable more people to walk and cycle, so HUB has started a petition on ESCC’s direct democracy ePetition to prevent the funds from being lost and ensure they are actually allocated to walking and cycling.
