Urban design improvements
Hastings urgently needs better infrastructure, both design and planning. This ranges from introducing better pedestrian crossings, Advance Stop Line boxes and road junctions and improved on/off ramps for the existing cycling network.
We collect public opinion for and lobby ESCC for long-term infrastructural improvements such as more bus and cycle lanes and better on-street bike storage as well as parking issues particularly around local schools.
Working with local communities
We collect local resident opinions and organise public forums to allow all road users to come together to better plan the use of our public spaces, including roads. We lobby government but we listen to the people in our community.
At the same time, we raise attention for safer non-car based urban travel. This in particular is directed towards working with school staff and residents who live in the vicinity of local schools to make streets safer and increase the use of non-car travel to schools.
Group rides: Kidical mass and more
Cycling should be safe, easy and fun. We work on a range of local events to both celebrate cycling and remind people that cycling is far more fun than sitting in the back of an SUV.
We organise a number of family bike rides in Hastings throughout the year and intermittently, build and design temporary road installations to remind all road users that a future with reduced car use is possible.
